View this email in your browser Celebrating 10 Years! Tricia Canavan Chief Executive Officer Tech Foundry is celebrating 10 years of changing lives through workforce training in the tech sector. Since our founding by a group of local employers, led by Delcie Bean of Paragus Strategic IT, Tech Foundry has grown in reach and impact. With two interrelated projects, our IT-focused workforce development program and our digital literacy Tech Hub program in Holyoke, Tech Foundry is now serving thousands of people each year throughout Western MA. As we wrap up our first decade of operations, we’re celebrating this milestone and the partnerships which have made it possible with a fun, tech-forward cocktail party at MGM’s Armory on October 24th at 5:30pm. At the event, we will salute some of our most visionary partners: MassMutual and the MassMutual Foundation, the George A. and Irene E. Davis Foundation and Delcie Bean. Read on to learn more about what’s new at Tech Foundry this fall.   Award Season October has been a banner month, with Tech Foundry being recognized by two of our most important partners. On October 8th, Tech Foundry was one of nine organizations selected to receive a Senator Kenneth J. Donnelly Workforce Success grant in the latest round of funding. This two-year, $500,000 award is funded by the Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development and administered by Commonwealth Corporation through the state’s Workforce Competitiveness Trust Fund. The next day, on October 9th, the Tech Foundry team accepted the Massachusetts Broadband Institute’s (MBI) Excellence in Community Impact Award, which we received for our community-based digital equity programming throughout Western Mass. Launching our Second Decade with a New Office! We moved! But don’t worry, we’re just across the street! The Tech Foundry team has been working hard to set up our amazing new office at 1350 Main Street in the MassLive building. We now have two classrooms and ample space as we continue to grow, in a terrific building which has the resources to make learning and working at Tech Foundry a terrific experience for all! Come visit! We can’t wait to host our community of supporters once we have our desks assembled. Here is our new address: Tech Foundry 1350 Main Street, Suite 500 Springfield, MA 01103 10th Anniversary Events Tech Foundry is celebrating 10 years of impact with a variety of events throughout the year. In May, we convened a panel to discuss the future of workforce development, which featured Dr. George Timmons, President of Holyoke Community College; Jay Ash, CEO of Mass Competitive Partnership; Lauren Jones, Secretary for the Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development; Meghan Martinez, Director of Cyber Range Programs at MA Cybertrust; and Jason Pacheco, Director of Workforce Planning, Analytics, and Compensation at Baystate Health. In September we officially kicked off the 10th anniversary celebration with a “Gaming for Tech Night” at Quarters in Hadley. It was a wonderful night full of meaningful conversations, reunions, and video games! The grand finale will take place on October 24th at Tech Foundry’s 10th Anniversary Gala at the MGM Armory in Springfield. Tickets are still available and can be purchased by clicking the button below. 10th Anniversary Tickets Tech Hub One Year Anniversary It’s hard to believe that it has been one year since Tech Foundry launched the Tech Hub in Holyoke! In the past twelve months, we have served more than 2,500 individuals around Western MA, delivered more than 250 workshops at the Hub and at satellite locations throughout the region, and distributed more than 150 devices to individuals who have completed six or more of our classes. We are extremely grateful to our partners who have made this program a remarkable success: the Western Massachusetts Alliance for Digital Equity, The Massachusetts Broadband Institute, Holyoke Community College, The Ceres Foundation, Accelerate the Future, The Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Comcast, Wellfleet Insurance, Google and Bulkley Richardson & Gelinas.
